Right now in New Braunfels, over 650 seniors can’t afford a house, apartment, or anything else. We believe that’s 650 too many.
We’re working to help people who are working to make ends meet. The average hourly wage in New Braunfels isn’t enough to cover an apartment. Lets’ change that.
We believe no person should live without shelter and an opportunity for a safe and fulfilling life.
To that end, we partner with the City of New Braunfels Workforce Housing
Advisory Committee and are working toward the following:
Goal 1: Reduce the percentage of housing-cost-burdened families in
New Braunfels through affordable rental and home ownership.
Goal 2: Preserve existing affordable housing stock and acquire sites for future workforce housing.
New Braunfels must offer a full housing spectrum – from emergency shelter to transitional housing
to long-term housing – for all income levels. Very few rental units for individuals who work full-
time and earn less than $19 per hour ($40,000 a year) are available in the community. Thus, many
gainfully and fully employed workers cannot meet minimum income standards for rental units.
